The Cook 1 position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to start or advance their career in culinary arts within a top-tier hospitality setting. This entry-level role focuses on fundamental cooking and kitchen support functions, where candidates will learn and contribute to the efficient operation of the kitchen while ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. The Cook 1 is responsible for setting up and organizing their workstation, preparing basic food items, adhering to Invited's food safety and sanitation standards, and assisting senior cooks and chefs in daily kitchen operations. This role is imperative in maintaining the smooth flow of kitchen activities, supporting the preparation of daily specials, salads, entrees, and other menu items under the guidance of more experienced culinary staff.
Working under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef, the Cook 1 helps uphold the club’s reputation for culinary excellence by ensuring consistent food preparation and presentation. The role demands attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a willingness to adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment. Beyond food preparation, the Cook 1 is expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of their work area, handle food storage responsibly, manage condiments and supplies, and assist with receiving and storing goods. The position also emphasizes proactive support to fellow team members and professional interactions with members and guests, accommodating special requests and dealing with service challenges with tact and professionalism.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments, with potential exposure to dust, fumes, or gases
- Capable of climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, bending, and folding/unfolding as required
- Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Effective communication skills, including talking and hearing, with sufficient visual acuity
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a kitchen environment
- Valid Food Handler Certifications as required by state and city regulations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately
Job Duties
- Set-up, execute daily prep tasks, and organize workstation efficiently
- Prepare and store all food items required for the station, adhering to Invited standards
- Maintain proper cooking techniques and consistent preparation and presentation of daily specials, salads, entrees, and other menu items
- Receive and store goods purchased by kitchen as requested
- Manage items used by others, such as condiments, dressings, salsa, and soups
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area and kitchen, including equipment, counters, tools, waste areas
- Communicate with Executive Chef or Sous Chef regarding special product needs or issues with food quality or presentation
- Interact professionally with members and guests, accommodating changes and last-minute requests
- Support fellow employees and contribute to a positive team environment
- Address and resolve member and guest complaints professionally, notifying management of issues
- Complete additional duties as assigned by management
