The role of Cook 1 within Northwood Hospitality's Culinary Department is essential in maintaining the high standards for which the organization is known. Reporting directly to the Sous Chef and Executive Chef, the Cook will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes including appetizers, entrees, and desserts in accordance with established recipes and high-quality standards. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a kitchen environment preferred
- Food Handler's Certification required
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with cooking
- Willingness to adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cook in a restaurant or hotel kitchen preferred
- Strong culinary skills including knowledge of various cooking techniques and ingredients
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- Food Handler's Certification required
Job Duties
- Prepare a variety of dishes including appetizers, entrees, and desserts according to recipes and standards
- Ensure all food is of the highest quality and meets strict standards
- Follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines including proper food handling and storage procedures
- Assist with inventory management including receiving and storing food supplies
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow
- Assist with special events and catering as needed
