Job Requirements

  • One year of experience as a cook in a commercial food service facility or possession of certificate of completion in culinary arts and/or Foods and Hospitality Service from a certified community college or technical school
  • ability to obtain Lane County Food Handler's card within two weeks of employment
  • ability to complete Hazard Communication Training and Kitchen Safety Training
  • successful completion of a cooking practical demonstrating knife skills, cooking methods, sanitation, plate presentation and timing
  • capability to stand for long periods, work in varying temperatures, and lift heavy objects
  • reliable and current contact information
  • ability to arrive on campus during inclement weather as essential personnel

Job Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a cook in a commercial food service facility
  • possession of certificate of completion in culinary arts and/or Foods and Hospitality Service from a certified community college or technical school
  • ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • ability to provide excellent customer service during busy periods
  • ability to prioritize duties effectively
  • experience preparing meals in high volume kitchens preferred
  • experience directing other staff preferred
  • knowledge of HACCP plans preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare specials and entrees daily
  • operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • maintain accurate food preparation and sanitation records
  • develop daily work plans for assigned kitchen area
  • oversee Food Service Worker 2 staff and student employees
  • provide ongoing training on food safety and HACCP compliance
  • interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff providing excellent customer service
