Job Description

The Long Beach Amphitheater is a prominent live entertainment venue located in Long Beach, California. The Conversion Supervisor position at Long Beach Amphitheater is a critical role within the Event Operations department, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. This non-exempt hourly role offers a competitive wage starting at $31.00 per hour, with an increase to $33.50 per hour effective October 1, 2026. The supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing the conversion crew and ensuring all event operational tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and align with the venue’s high standards. The position demands strong leadership qualities, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across team members and management. The Conversion Supervisor is essential in executing event setups according to precise layouts and timelines, training new and existing staff on safety and operational procedures, managing equipment logistics, and upholding strict safety and labor compliance protocols.

This role requires hands-on involvement with physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and transporting equipment, as well as the stamina to stand and walk for extended periods in a fast-paced environment. Job Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate conversion crew activities to ensure smooth event operations
  • Monitor team performance and provide coaching, guidance, and support as needed
  • Assist with staffing assignments and schedule coordination
  • Execute event setups and breakdowns according to event diagrams, layouts, and operational timelines
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure all event components are properly installed and operational
  • Ensure operational standards and venue expectations are consistently met
  • Ensure proper handling, organization, and storage of event equipment in accordance with venue procedures
  • Conduct inventory checks and report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment
  • Train new hires on operational procedures, safety standards, and customer service expectations
  • Support ongoing staff development and reinforcement of operational best practices
  • Enforce workplace safety regulations and venue protocols to maintain a safe environment for employees and guests
  • Conduct safety briefings and support emergency response procedures when necessary
  • Maintain awareness of collective bargaining agreement requirements and support positive labor relations practices
  • Serve as a liaison between management and event staff to communicate operational updates and address concerns
  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding staffing needs, event execution, and operational improvements
