As a part of Marriott International, one of the world's leading hospitality companies, Gaylord Hotels benefits from Marriott's extensive global reach, resources, and commitment to fostering inclusive, diverse, and supportive workplace cultures. The brand's dedication to offering more than typical hotel experiences is reflected in its employment philosophy, focusing on both career growth and personal development opportunities for its associates, known as STARs. These STARs are committed, creative, and entrepreneurial individuals who embody the brand's core values and consistently deliver thoughtful and big-hearted service to guests. Working at Gaylord Hotels means being part of an amazing global team where you can do your best work, begin your purpose, belong to a community, and become the best version of yourself. This role is a full-time position, offering competitive compensation aligned with industry standards and Marriott's commitment to rewarding talent and dedication.
The role of Group Coordinator/Host(ess) at Gaylord Hotels is integral to the seamless execution of events and functions, serving as the essential liaison between the events team and guests. This position requires the coordinator to meet with the host or hostess prior to each function to make introductions, ensuring clarity and agreement on all event arrangements. A critical responsibility is the thorough review and analysis of the Banquet Event Order (BEO) to gather essential guest information and determine the correct setup, timeline, and specific guest needs. The Group Coordinator must also oversee buffet setups, action stations, and any special event arrangements, responding promptly to any unique requests and following up diligently to ensure full compliance with event requirements. Commitment to safety and company policies is paramount, encompassing a proactive approach to reporting accidents, unsafe conditions, and maintaining rigorous adherence to safety standards. Professionalism is evident in the requirement for a clean and professional appearance, confidentiality of proprietary information, and protection of company assets. Success in this role depends heavily on excellent communication skills, providing warm welcomes to guests, anticipating and addressing guest service needs, utilizing clear and polite language, and answering telephones professionally. The Group Coordinator must foster positive working relationships with colleagues and support the team in achieving common goals, all while upholding the highest quality expectations and standards expected by Gaylord Hotels and Marriott International. Additionally, the role demands physical stamina and flexibility, including standing, walking, lifting objects up to 25 pounds, navigating various environments, and performing other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
