The Convention Center Sales Manager role at Legends Global is a vital position responsible for driving the sales efforts of the Ontario Convention Center, focusing on events with an anticipated attendance of 500 people or fewer. The role involves active engagement in the community to identify and cultivate new business opportunities within an assigned market segment. The Sales Manager will be responsible for achieving all sales and booking goals, maintaining thorough documentation of client interactions, and employing strategic sales techniques to maximize the utilization of the Convention Center’s capabilities and services.
This position requires a combination of sales acumen, relationship-building skills, and comprehensive knowledge of the venue and competitive landscape. The manager will conduct site tours, prepare compelling sales presentations, negotiate contracts, and maintain positive professional relationships with clients and prospective clients. The role also involves representing the Ontario Convention Center at industry meetings, tradeshows, and promotional events, contributing to marketing efforts and the overall objectives of the sales department.

Job Requirements
- Two years experience in hotel or convention center sales
- Bachelor's degree in hotel, marketing, business administration, or closely related field, or equivalent work experience
- Valid California Driver License
- Proven record of successful meeting and convention selling with increasing responsibilities
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to maintain professional image
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Skill in operating modern office equipment and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to pass background check
- Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs, walk for long distances, and perform physical tasks such as pushing doors open
- Use safety precautions and guidelines
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in hotel management, marketing, business administration, or a closely related field
- Proven track record of successful meeting and convention selling
- Experience with progressive responsibilities in sales roles
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to maintain a professional image and interact tactfully with diverse groups
- Knowledge of marketing principles and public relations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Valid California Driver License
- Experience in hospitality, hotel, or convention center sales
Job Duties
- Identify organizations within assigned market segment as potential customers of the Convention Center
- Match customer requirements with Ontario Convention Center and City of Ontario capabilities
- Achieve 100 percent of sales, booking, and sales activity goals
- Document information relating to contacts and client needs thoroughly, maintaining organized files and up-to-date databases
- Solicit and sell the Convention Center through telephone, letters, and personal contacts
- Conduct site tours of the Convention Center as required
- Entertain clients appropriately
- Stimulate improvement of selling methods and productivity
- Prepare and deliver written and oral sales presentations to individuals or groups
- Negotiate and prepare contracts outlining space leased and rental rates
- Maintain a positive and professional image and build effective rapport with clients
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Convention Center's capabilities
- Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors' offerings and leverage this information to promote the venue
- Follow up with contacts and leads in a timely manner
- Compose letters and proposals
- Attend local industry meetings, seminars, tradeshows, and events
- Assist in planning and executing promotional events and special projects
- Contribute to overall sales objectives by achieving goals set by the Vice President of Sales
- Assist on special assignments as required by the Vice President of Sales
