Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services is a critical division within Amazon Web Services (AWS) that is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. AWS, recognized as the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, powers countless businesses worldwide by providing robust, scalable, and reliable cloud computing services. The AWS Infrastructure Services team supports all AWS data centers, managing the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continuous and seamless access to AWS cloud innovations. The team addresses complex challenges involving thousands of variables in the supply chain to maintain operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
As a member of the AWS Infrastructure Services team, you will join a vibrant and diverse group of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across various units within AWS is key to delivering high standards of safety and security while maximizing data center capacity cost-effectively. The team fosters an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and empowers employees to take ownership of projects from inception to completion.
This role is positioned within the global controls team, where you will work alongside experts and innovators in the data center industry. Your responsibilities will center around troubleshooting, managing projects, and maintaining building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) that are vital for AWS data center operations. AWS data centers contain numerous complex components such as generators, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), electrical switchgear, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, and air economizers. These components rely on local control systems that communicate using both open and proprietary protocols. The BMS controls all mechanical systems within a data center, while the EPMS monitors electrical systems, making your role essential in maintaining and improving these infrastructures.
This position requires applicants to be US citizens with an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility, and candidates must maintain and obtain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph after joining. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and root cause analysis for control systems, applying fundamental concepts to BMS and EPMS scope management, training stakeholders, supporting maintenance and commissioning activities, managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, participating in vendor procurement, and providing on-call technical support.
The role demands frequent visits to in-operation data centers to troubleshoot issues, supervise vendors, and ensure compliance with design standards and codes. You will also be responsible for developing and modifying controls logic programming, managing multiple stakeholder deliverables, and financially managing service contracts. This opportunity offers a challenging yet rewarding environment to grow your expertise in data center infrastructure and control systems, working for a leader in cloud computing.
Amazon Web Services values diversity, work-life harmony, and continuous learning. Employees benefit from an inclusive culture that respects uniqueness and offers ongoing development opportunities through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and affinity groups. AWS promotes a flexible work culture to support success in both professional and personal life. Compensation for this position is competitive, with an annual salary range from $111,300 to $186,100 USD, along with sign-on payments, restricted stock units, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. The role is based in Hilliard, Ohio, USA.
