The Senior Controls Account Manager position at Trane Technologies offers an exciting opportunity for a driven and accomplished professional to join the team at a pivotal level. In this role, the individual will be instrumental in building and maintaining strong and trusting relationships with customers of Trane's HVAC controls products and services. The Senior Controls Account Manager will be responsible for driving account share growth and ensuring a high level of customer retention, thus playing a critical role in solidifying Trane's standing as the preferred partner for building owner accounts. This role demands expertise in HVAC control solutions, strong sales acumen, and a passion for sustainability, helping customers understand how Trane's products and services can create efficient and sustainable buildings.
The position primarily involves prioritizing direct engagement with customers to understand their needs, solve problems with tailored HVAC control solutions, and provide consultations that include financial and performance-based advice. When not in direct customer interaction, collaboration with colleagues within the office environment is encouraged to align strategies and deliver the best outcomes. The Senior Controls Account Manager routinely converts leads into viable sales opportunities by orchestrating appropriate sales processes and coordinating the sales team effectively. A key responsibility will be to develop and execute account-specific business plans designed to nurture mutually supportive, profitable, and successful partnerships over the long term. The role also requires the ability to address technical inquiries related to HVAC controls, Trane products, and industry trends, demonstrating a robust grasp of the sector's challenges and opportunities.
This position requires a strong self-starter mindset, exceptional financial and business insights, and the ability to engage multiple stakeholders, influencers, and key decision-makers. It demands a professional with more than five years of experience in solution sales, along with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in arts, sciences, or a related field preferred. Travel to customer job sites is also a crucial component, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and mechanical environments. The position is safety-sensitive, requiring adherence to strict regulatory and company standards, including maintaining a valid driver’s license with a clean record. Job Requirements
- Five plus years of experience in solution sales
- bachelor’s degree preferred
- ability to travel to customer job sites
- valid driver license with no major or frequent traffic violations in the past three years
- ability to work in variable environmental conditions including mechanical rooms and outdoor weather
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- safety sensitive role requiring adherence to additional drug screening
Job Qualifications
- Five plus years of demonstrated experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or Science Degree preferred
- five plus years of solution sales experience with a track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
- a desire to understand the business and passion to connect current and potential customers with service offerings designed to create efficient and sustainable buildings
- ability to engage multiple stakeholders, influencers and key decision makers
- demonstrated ability to generate and qualify leads, facilitate customer conversations with business level insights to establish value and create demand, close new business and grow existing account relationships

Job Duties
- Provide knowledge and consultation in the form of developing HVAC controls related solutions for the customer’s problems, including financial and performance-based considerations
- consistently ascertain customer needs and current market opportunities
- assemble and coordinate acquisition team as needed for customers and projects
- convert leads into opportunities by assigning the appropriate sales process, identifying the required sales team members, making assignments, and communicating the next steps in the process
- develop and execute an account specific business plan to identify the long term, mutual support requirements required to facilitate a strong, profitable and successful partnership
- assist customers in answering technical questions on HVAC controls, Trane Products, and relevant industry issues
