The Controlled Substance Team Lead position at Medisca plays a critical role in coordinating the activities related to controlled substances within the company. This leadership role requires meticulous attention to detail and strict adherence to all relevant regulations, particularly those enforced by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing packaging coordination, order preparation, regulatory compliance, and inventory control for controlled substances. This position supports operational efficiency and compliance through communication with internal departments and external regulatory bodies.

Scheduled primarily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some flexibility to work between 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, this full-time role offers an annual salary range of $62,000 to $72,000. The Team Lead must ensure all packaging operations meet stringent standards by auditing packaging rooms and approving work orders. Key duties include authenticating orders, managing shipments, collaborating with the DEA and other regulatory entities, and maintaining comprehensive records in line with DEA requirements.

Medisca's Controlled Substance Team Lead also guides the team in completing training activities, revising internal procedures, and managing suspicious orders alongside quality and regulatory specialists. This position demands a blend of regulatory knowledge, leadership ability, organizational skills, and a sharp eye for detail. The role is crucial in maintaining compliance, safeguarding controlled substances, and ultimately supporting Medisca’s mission to deliver safe and effective healthcare solutions worldwide.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of science degree

  • knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel
  • experience with Syspro software is an asset

Job Duties

  • Coordinate packaging of controlled substances with production
  • audit packaging rooms from controlled substances
  • approve work orders and sign off control for packaging
  • communicate release of material to other departments and complete material reports
  • prepare controlled substance orders including authentication
  • pick and pack orders per shipping procedures
  • approve watch list customer orders
  • initiate DEA paperwork for imports and exports of international sales
  • report capsule machines and devices to DEA and state authorities
  • communicate regularly with DEA and manufacturers
  • schedule onsite due diligence visits for customers
  • perform and complete all regulatory reporting requirements
  • oversee filing system as per DEA regulations
  • assist with DEA audits
  • oversee inventory control
  • review and approve suspicious orders in collaboration with quality and regulatory affairs
  • revise controlled substance procedures as required
  • coordinate and facilitate training activities among controlled substance staff
