Job Description
Tyler Junior College (TJC) is a public community college located in Tyler, Texas, known for its commitment to providing quality education and lifelong learning opportunities to its diverse student population. Established with a mission to serve the educational needs of its community, Tyler Junior College offers a broad range of academic and continuing education programs designed to prepare students for successful careers and personal enrichment. TJC prides itself on its inclusive environment that fosters growth, innovation, and community engagement while upholding equal opportunity principles for all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status. The college promotes a culture of respect, integrity, and collaboration, ensuring that every individual receives fair consideration in employment and participation in programs.
The Continuing Studies Enrollment Manager at Tyler Junior College plays a pivotal role in managing the registration processes and procedures for the college's continuing studies division. This position requires comprehensive oversight of student enrollment and documentation, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data transfer and reporting between departments. The Enrollment Manager works closely with various internal partners to maintain smooth registration functions and to optimize the use of class and facility resources. This role demands strong leadership as it includes supervisory responsibilities for operational staff involved in enrollment activities. The manager acts as a primary point of contact for student and customer inquiries related to registration, responding effectively to challenges and fostering a high standard of customer service.
This full-time, on-site position based in Tyler, Texas, involves not only managing enrollment systems but also coordinating textbook and supply orders and overseeing requisition processes from start to finish. The Enrollment Manager supports third-party registration and reporting efforts, facilitating seamless integration with external partners and programs. Moreover, the position requires excellent communication skills for liaising with faculty, staff, the general public, and community stakeholders to ensure that all information regarding continuing education courses and policies is clearly disseminated. The role requires someone who is adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining an exceptional level of professionalism. This individual is expected to participate actively in departmental, divisional, and college-wide committees, contributing to institutional goals beyond the immediate scope of enrollment management.
Key competencies necessary for success in this role include collaboration and teamwork, decision-making, data analysis, leadership, organizational and project management skills, as well as proficient computer software and written communication abilities. Physical demands entail sitting, walking, standing, typing, and lifting items up to approximately 35 pounds, highlighting the necessity for a candidate prepared for both administrative and light physical tasks. Minimal travel may be required, primarily local, necessitating a current and valid Texas driver’s license and the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
In summary, the Senior Manager of Enrollment in Continuing Studies is a critical member of Tyler Junior College’s administrative team, ensuring that the college's continuing education programs run efficiently with a student-centered approach. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field coupled with relevant experience in higher education or data management. Leadership capabilities and prior experience managing multiple employees are preferred, demonstrating the college’s commitment to hiring professionals who can lead with integrity and foster a positive educational environment.
