Currently, Waste Connections is seeking a dedicated Container Delivery Driver to join its growing team in El Paso, TX. This full-time position offers an attractive pay starting at $19.50 per hour and a work schedule from Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays included. The typical start time is 3:00 am, and the role averages 50 hours per week. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a physically demanding environment and are committed to providing excellent customer service.

The Container Delivery Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe collection of solid waste from designated routes. Responsibilities include sequencing routes for optimal efficiency, operating hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse, and safely driving a garbage truck on assigned routes. Candidates should be capable of performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintaining safety equipment, and handling physical tasks such as lifting, pulling, and pushing objects over 50 pounds. Although prior waste experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, as training is provided.

Working conditions include exposure to varying weather elements such as heat, humidity, and rain, as well as moderate noise levels and potential contact with moving mechanical parts. OSHA-standard safety precautions are strictly followed to ensure a safe working environment. The role demands excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to read route sheets accurately and engage courteously with customers.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English
  • Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete pre- and post-trip inspections
  • Valid U.S. drivers license
  • Clean motor vehicle record
  • Ability to lift, push, pull objects over 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Sequence routes for optimal efficiency
  • Ability to safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste
  • Ability to read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or assigned by the dispatcher
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires
  • Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers
  • Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities
  • Courteous interaction with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
