The Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration division in Huntsville, Alabama, presents an exciting career opportunity as a Consult Engineer Systems – Solution Train Engineer (26-256). This role plays a critical part in supporting top-level decision-makers such as the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders by contributing to the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, an essential piece of the Missile Defense System. C2BMC is a sophisticated operational system that integrates networked sensors and weapons, enabling effective ballistic missile defense strategy, planning, and execution on a global and regional scale. It multiplies force effectiveness by synchronizing autonomous systems and is indispensable for ground and flight testing of missile defense technologies.

As the Solution Train Engineer (STE), the incumbent will be a recognized authority in large-scale Agile program execution within Department of Defense development programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, yet operating with considerable autonomy, the STE is the servant-leader for Engineering Project Managers who lead Agile Release Trains and Resource Management Areas. The STE’s responsibilities include synchronizing Agile development efforts to meet strategic goals, maintaining an "always ready to deliver" posture, owning program Agile processes and metrics, and continuously driving improvements that reduce costs and increase efficiency.

This role requires strong leadership to facilitate coordination between multiple ARTs and RMAs, ensure adherence to Agile principles without dictating work methods, and serve as a spokesperson to senior internal leadership and external government and partner organizations. The STE will also engage in release management, metrics analysis, integrated planning, and mentorship of future program leaders. This position demands expertise in DevSecOps adoption, empirical development methodologies, and the ability to challenge legacy processes while balancing compliance and customer satisfaction. The STE contributes significantly to shaping new business initiatives where Agile execution credibility is a key differentiator.

Candidates must be willing to work on-site in Huntsville with no option for remote work, hold a current active DoD Secret clearance, and be available for travel approximately 10% of the time. The salary range for this position is $202,500 to $303,700 annually, with additional eligibility for bonuses and incentives based on individual and company performance.
