Job Description
Barringer Construction is a respected commercial general contractor based in the Carolinas, known for delivering exceptional construction projects across various sectors including corporate interiors, hospitality, life sciences, mission critical, industrial, institutional, and healthcare facilities. What sets Barringer apart is their commitment to building more than just structures; they strive to build lasting relationships, memorable experiences, and fulfilling careers for their employees. The company is 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), ensuring that every team member shares in the success and growth of the company. This unique company culture and ownership model contribute to why Business NC Magazine recognized Barringer Construction as the Number 1 Best Employer in North Carolina for two consecutive years, 2024 and 2025. Barringer’s dedication to a client-centered approach and high-quality project delivery has helped them maintain a stellar reputation in the commercial construction industry.
As a Construction Project Manager at Barringer Construction, you will play a vital role in leading commercial construction projects from the initial bidding phase through to project closeout. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic construction environment and is passionate about delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You will be the primary liaison between clients, senior leadership, subcontractors, and field teams, ensuring that all parties are aligned and working collaboratively towards successful project completion. The position demands a proactive leader who can build strong client relationships, manage complex schedules, and oversee budgets with precision. Furthermore, you will get the opportunity to represent Barringer in client-facing situations, demonstrating confidence and professionalism that reinforces the company’s brand and commitment to excellence.
The company supports its employees with comprehensive benefits including 100% employer-paid premiums for dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance. In addition, Barringer offers a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match, generous paid time off (PTO) after the first year, tuition reimbursement programs for continued education, wellness and professional development initiatives, pet insurance, and annual charitable donations inspired by employees' values. This holistic approach to employee wellness and career growth makes Barringer not only a leader in construction but also an employer of choice for those seeking long-term career satisfaction.
The Construction Project Manager will lead all phases of project life cycles including planning, estimating, scheduling, execution, and closeout. You will be entrusted with budget management, cost tracking, and risk management by reviewing plans, specifications, and contracts to forewarn and address potential challenges early on. Collaboration with field superintendents and other site leadership will ensure that quality, safety, and craftsmanship standards are always upheld on every job site. This role requires strong organizational skills, exceptional communication, and an ability to juggle multiple projects without compromising detail or quality. Candidates who excel in this role are relationship builders, confident in negotiations, and exhibit polished professionalism in all interactions.
Working at Barringer Construction means being part of an equal opportunity employer that actively promotes a workplace free from discrimination and harassment. The company fosters an inclusive environment where diversity is valued, and employees are expected to contribute to upholding a respectful and fair workplace for everyone. This role primarily involves a split work environment between the office and active construction sites, with some physical demands such as moving around sites safely and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Travel within the company's project footprint in the Carolinas is required occasionally, including some early mornings or late workdays depending on project milestones. If you are a dedicated construction professional looking to impact high-quality commercial projects and grow within a supportive and dynamic team, Barringer Construction invites you to apply for the Construction Project Manager position today.
