The Engineering and Construction Project Manager role at Sodexo is based at the University of Kansas Health System POM in Kansas City, KS, a premier academic medical center recognized for its advanced care, medical research, and education. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare facility’s infrastructure by overseeing operations, maintenance, repairs, and minor construction projects. As an Engineering and Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating capital projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and within budget. This includes managing contractors, scheduling, financial oversight, quality control, and safety compliance. You will handle administrative tasks such as coordinating meetings, maintaining project documentation, and serving as the primary liaison for customer communication. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture or an Associate's Degree with relevant experience preferred
- minimum of 3 years of direct project management experience in the Building Construction Industry
- experience managing sub-contractors and construction management including scheduling and financial management
- ability to handle diverse challenges requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines
- experience in project engineering including adherence to specifications and design adaptation ensuring compliance with codes and specifications
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
- proficiency in project management software including Microsoft Project
- strong personal computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with preference for Adobe Writer and Visio
- familiarity with OSHPD regulations and healthcare experience preferred
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture
- minimum of 3 years of direct project management experience in the Building Construction Industry with a preference for Healthcare construction experience
- experience managing sub-contractors, scheduling and financial management
- demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience
- proficient in Microsoft Project and project management software
- strong computer skills with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and preferably Adobe Writer and Visio
- familiarity with OSHPD and healthcare construction standards preferred
Job Duties
- Plan, direct and coordinate activities of designated capital projects
- review project proposals, establish work plans and manage contractors to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget
- handle construction management including scheduling, financial management, quality control and safety
- perform administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, taking minutes, maintaining documentation, and liaising with customers
- manage engineering paint and rehabilitation projects related to the Environment of Care
- oversee the grounds maintenance department
- manage infection control risk assessment (ICRA) and post-construction risk assessment (PCRA) processes
