Job Description

Ardaman & Associates, Inc. is a leading geotechnical engineering and materials testing consulting firm based in the Southeastern United States. Established with a strong reputation, the company has completed over 150,000 projects across the Southeast, the broader United States, and international locations. Ardaman’s extensive project portfolio covers a wide range of services provided to public and private clients involved in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. The firm is recognized for its commitment to quality, precision, and excellence in the engineering field, playing a crucial role in ensuring construction safety and material integrity for various large-scale projects.

This opportunity is for a full-time Construction Materials Testing Technician position located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The role primarily involves conducting sampling, testing, observation, and inspection of soils, concrete, and other materials on construction sites throughout the United States and internationally. The job demands spending 80 to 90 percent of work hours in the field at construction locations, actively participating in hands-on testing and quality control activities. Due to the nature of the projects, the position requires extensive travel across different regions in the US as well as international sites, delivering expert field services that support large engineering and construction initiatives.

The Construction Materials Testing Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with engineering standards and specifications by performing rigorous field tests and laboratory evaluations on construction materials. This technician is responsible for collecting accurate material samples, carrying out standardized testing procedures, and documenting results objectively to guarantee project quality and safety. With a strong focus on soil, aggregate, and concrete testing, the technician assists project managers and engineers by providing critical data that informs construction decisions and supports regulatory adherence.

Candidates for this role ideally have experience in earthwork and concrete construction, along with knowledge of construction materials testing (CMT) in laboratory environments, although this is preferred and not mandatory. Additional certifications such as NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies), ACI (American Concrete Institute), and Radiation Safety Nuclear Density Gauge training are advantageous but not required. The position requires physical capability to handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and a valid driving record for travel between project locations. Flexibility with work schedules including willingness to work weekends, overtime, and out-of-town assignments is essential.

Ardaman emphasizes a positive work environment, expecting candidates to demonstrate a good attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work well with others. While local candidates in the New Orleans area are preferred, the company does not offer relocation assistance. Comprehensive benefits accompany this employment opportunity, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with company match. Ardaman is committed to equal employment opportunities and values diversity, providing a workplace free from discrimination and bias. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tetra Tech, a federal contractor with priority referral for veterans and maintains a drug-free workplace policy.
