With a dedicated team of over 4,000 engineers, scientists, geologists, inspectors, technicians, and drillers, UES is committed to making a meaningful impact in the various communities it serves. The company's expertise spans multiple transformative sectors including transportation, energy, water, and healthcare, showcasing its versatility and importance in infrastructure and environmental projects nationwide. UES prioritizes excellence and innovation, backed by a robust commitment to quality and safety, which is evident in their extensive range of services that support sustainable development and project success.

The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Manager at UES plays a crucial role in the success of the company’s laboratory operations. This leadership role involves overseeing laboratory testing activities, ensuring strict compliance with industry standards and accreditation requirements, managing laboratory personnel, and supporting effective project delivery. The CMT Laboratory Manager ensures that all testing and laboratory practices meet ASTM, AASHTO, and FDOT standards. This involves coordination and performance of geotechnical and materials testing across diverse materials such as soil, aggregates, reinforcing bars, masonry, asphalt, and rock cores. Maintaining proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory and field equipment underpins the quality assurance that UES guarantees to its clients.

In addition to operational oversight, the role demands strong business acumen, as it includes planning for staffing needs, managing salaries, and overseeing capital expenditures to ensure the laboratory functions within its budget while maximizing efficiency and productivity. The CMT Laboratory Manager is also responsible for maintaining accreditation documentation and complying with the AASHTO Accreditation Program, which requires meticulous management of internal and external audits. The role's travel requirement means the successful candidate will be flexible and able to visit job sites, field locations, and regional offices frequently, ensuring project requirements are met in various environments.

Effective communication skills are vital in this managerial position, as it requires consistent interaction with project management staff, clients, team members, and stakeholders. The manager must be capable of delivering clear reports, coordinating testing schedules, and supporting the review of laboratory results. Leadership is a cornerstone of this role, with an emphasis on cultivating a positive work culture and promoting safety policies and procedures in all aspects of operations.

This position offers a dynamic work environment combining office-based responsibilities such as data entry and documentation with on-site activities that may involve physical tasks like lifting materials and operating laboratory equipment. UES values diversity, equity, and inclusion, proudly committing to equal employment opportunities and respectful engagement with all employees and applicants.
