With a workforce of 3,500 employees spread across multiple offices throughout the United States, Atlas combines local expertise with a vast network of relationships to serve both public and private sector clients effectively. The company’s mission is centered on improving the quality of life within the communities it operates, ensuring that every project produces a positive and lasting impact. This commitment to excellence and community enhancement makes Atlas a trusted name in the consulting industry.

The role of Construction Materials Tester - CMT Field Technician 1 at Atlas plays a vital part in supporting heavy civil infrastructure projects by providing accurate and reliable materials testing and documentation. This entry-level, full-time position offers an hourly rate ranging from $24 to $32, with precise compensation depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Those who join Atlas as a CMT Field Technician will find themselves in a dynamic, values-driven environment focused on client satisfaction and community welfare. The technician’s work directly contributes to the safety, quality, and sustainability of infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and contractual requirements.

As a Construction Materials Tester, you will conduct various field tests related to cement concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other surfacing materials. Utilizing tools such as nuclear gauges for density testing and performing sieve analysis to evaluate aggregate quality, your role is critical in confirming that construction materials meet the necessary specifications. Daily responsibilities include accurately writing and submitting test reports, assisting with construction inspections, recording test data, and interpreting results to maintain project integrity. The position also demands adaptability to work in different environments, including uneven construction sites, and flexibility in scheduling to align with contractor activities, which might involve nights, weekends, holidays, or emergency callouts.

Atlas fosters a supportive work culture known as the A-Team Experience, dedicated to helping employees thrive both professionally and personally. The company provides comprehensive health and wellness benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans with options for employees to select coverage that best suits their needs. Vacation time, paid holidays, sick and safety leave, as well as paid parental leave, demonstrate Atlas’s commitment to family support and work-life balance. Retirement planning assistance through a 401(k) plan with a company match helps employees secure their financial futures. Additional benefits include life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), and disability insurance to provide security and peace of mind.

Safety is a core value at Atlas, with initiatives such as providing approved personal protective equipment at no cost, reimbursement options for prescription safety glasses and protective footwear, and a comprehensive safety program that aligns with the company’s quality of life commitment. Career growth is encouraged through learning and development resources, internal certification programs, and tuition reimbursement for external credentials. Employee communities foster a sense of belonging and shared purpose. Flexibility in work arrangements further supports employees in balancing personal responsibilities with professional demands.

Atlas’s culture is built around values that guide employees in their decision-making and teamwork. Prioritizing life and safety, acting with heart through compassion and respect, building trust with accountability, and striving for mastery to deliver the highest quality outcomes, the company ensures a fulfilling and impactful career experience. The Construction Materials Tester role at Atlas offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to infrastructure projects that positively affect communities while growing in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
