Job Description
Atlas is a trusted leader in environmental and infrastructure consulting services with a commitment to enabling communities to flourish and thrive. With a robust team of 3,500 employees and a network of offices throughout the United States, Atlas combines local expertise with a wide-reaching network to deliver comprehensive solutions to both public and private clients. The company focuses on improving the quality of life in the communities where its people live and work by pursuing smart, safe, and sustainable results at every stage of each project. Atlas operates with a strong sense of responsibility toward the future, continuously striving to create positive and lasting impacts on the environment and infrastructure sectors. It is this dedication to quality, safety, and sustainability that positions Atlas as a preferred partner in consulting services nationwide.
The role of a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Lab Technician at Atlas is a pivotal one within the company’s laboratory services team. This position involves testing various construction materials such as aggregate, concrete, soil, and asphalt mixtures to determine their physical properties. The position is based in the Lakewood lab where the technician will perform essential testing services for producers, contractors, developers, and owners to verify that the materials used in construction projects meet industry standards and project specifications. The role demands technical proficiency in materials testing and includes responsibilities ranging from daily lab test execution to assisting with scheduling and supervising testing activities. Atlas offers a dynamic, value-driven environment that focuses on client satisfaction and community well-being, giving CMT Lab Technicians the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to projects that shape the built environment.
CMT Lab Technicians at Atlas are expected to earn necessary certifications to ensure their work complies with industry standards. The job may require occasional weekend work or overtime, with scheduling flexibility to accommodate personal commitments. As a Level II Laboratory Technician, there are additional leadership responsibilities that include supervising daily testing activities in the lab, supporting junior staff with technical expertise, and collaborating with the Lab Manager to organize testing schedules and assign tasks. Atlas values candidates with a background in science or strong math skills, knowledge of industry testing procedures such as those outlined by CDOT, FAA, COE, ASTM, and AASHTO, and a disposition for timely communication, self-motivation, and a positive attitude.
Atlas also emphasizes employee well-being through its A-Team Experience program, which provides resources and benefits that support health and wellness, time off and family support, retirement planning, insurance coverage, safety programs, learning and development opportunities, belonging through employee communities, and workplace flexibility. The company fosters a culture rooted in values such as enhancing life quality, acting with compassion and respect, building trust through accountability, and striving for mastery in all work. This full-time associate-level position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $26 to $32, reflecting the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Atlas is an equal opportunity employer that embraces diversity and inclusion in its workforce.
