Job Description

Dennis Group is a specialized construction management company focusing exclusively on the food and beverage industry. With over three decades of experience, the company plans, designs, engineers, and builds process facilities for major brands across the United States and the world. Their expertise lies in the construction of industrial and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) projects within food manufacturing plants. This allows Dennis Group to provide unparalleled knowledge and service to clients, helping popular brands bring their products to grocery store shelves efficiently and safely. The company prides itself on delivering high-quality, compliant, and innovative construction solutions tailored to the complex needs of food and beverage processing environments. Dennis Group operates primarily on a full-time, on-site employment model with project locations spread throughout the USA and Canada, offering competitive compensation aligned with candidate experience and comprehensive benefits to support their workforce.

The Construction Manager role at Dennis Group is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing daily construction activities and ensuring seamless execution of projects. This role demands a highly skilled individual who will supervise the coordination of subcontractors, manage site safety protocols, maintain project schedules, control budgets, and collaborate with multiple engineering and architectural disciplines. As a key communicator, the Construction Manager must demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication, and technical skills, enabling productive meetings and interactions with stakeholders at all organizational levels. The responsibilities also encompass contract administration, project planning, reporting, and providing technical advisories, making this role critical to project success from inception to completion. The position requires extensive travel, up to 100%, reflecting the company’s project-based work schedule of 10 days on-site followed by 4 days off, enabling candidates to engage directly with projects and teams in the field.

This role involves managing medium-sized projects independently, developing and updating project scopes, budgets, and timelines collaboratively with project management. It includes hands-on involvement with project accounting, cost management, permitting, compliance with regulations, installation oversight, and quality assurance via inspections and third-party testing coordination. The Construction Manager also supports facility start-up activities, maintains project reporting systems, handles change orders, works closely with subcontractors to ensure schedule adherence, and reviews critical documentation such as submittals and RFIs. The role is client-facing and requires a professional capable of building effective relationships with owners, subcontractors, building officials, and architects or engineers (A/E) teams.

Physical demands include prolonged periods of desk work as well as extensive site walking, climbing, and inspecting in various weather conditions. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be on-call for emergencies is essential. Candidates should be adept at reading and interpreting construction documents, possess knowledge in AutoCAD as a plus, and have a track record of progressively responsible industrial project experience. The company emphasizes safety, continuous communication, and talent development with opportunities for coaching and mentoring. As an equal opportunity employer, Dennis Group provides a supportive work environment valuing diversity, offering medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off including an open vacation policy, and retirement and profit-sharing plans. This comprehensive approach ensures Construction Managers can thrive professionally while contributing to building world-class food processing facilities.
