Job Description
Dennis Group is a specialized construction firm with three decades of focused expertise in the food and beverage industry. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, Dennis Group is dedicated to planning, designing, engineering, and building food processing plants for major brands both nationally and globally. The company prides itself on its in-depth knowledge of industrial and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) projects within the food production sector, delivering tailored construction management solutions that meet the unique demands of food and beverage manufacturing facilities. By emphasizing innovation, safety, and effective project coordination, Dennis Group has built a reputation for precision in project delivery and excellence in client service.
The role of a Construction Manager at Dennis Group is pivotal for the successful execution of these specialized industrial projects. As a project site supervisor, the Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily construction activities, from coordinating subcontractors to ensuring strict adherence to site safety programs. This position requires a blend of strong technical, managerial, and communication skills to navigate complex construction processes and work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including engineering teams, architects, project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
A Construction Manager at Dennis Group is not only a field leader but also a versatile professional who handles contract administration, project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting. They play an advisory role by offering insights into project management issues and ensuring smooth project progression. Additionally, the role includes site supervisory responsibilities such as daily oversight of subcontractors and safety enforcement, as well as potential supervision of Junior Construction Managers or field engineers when directed.
This position demands autonomy in managing medium-sized projects, including developing and updating project scope, budget, and schedule in collaboration with project management. The Construction Manager must be adept at project accounting, budgeting, and cost management while establishing and maintaining rigorous site safety procedures alongside the safety team. They oversee process, mechanical, and utility equipment installations, along with permitting, code compliance, change orders, and general construction administration.
Effective communication is essential as this role is client-facing; the Construction Manager must work collaboratively with owners, subcontractors, building officials, and architects/engineers to ensure project success. The job further involves coordinating field engineering efforts, inspection scheduling, managing third-party testing and inspections, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation such as reports and logs.
Given the nature of the projects, which typically span 6 to 12 months or longer, the Construction Manager will follow a demanding 10 days on-site, 4 days off schedule. The role requires up to 100 percent travel across the United States and Canada, with allowances for meals, lodging, and travel expenses. Physical demands include standing and walking on uneven terrain, climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The individual must be prepared to respond promptly to site emergencies or delays.
Dennis Group offers competitive compensation reflective of experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off including an open vacation policy, and bonus, profit-sharing, and retirement plans. As an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, Dennis Group commits to diversity and inclusion, ensuring equal opportunity for all employees and applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
