The role of Construction Manager at Dennis Group is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of construction activities at project sites. This full-time role is based on-site in Wichita, KS, and involves extensive travel, up to 100%, to various project locations throughout the United States and Canada. Typically, projects last between 6 to 12 months or more, with a work schedule of 10 days on-site followed by 4 days off. The Construction Manager will handle medium-sized projects autonomously, collaborating closely with project management teams to develop and update project scopes, schedules, and budgets. This role requires effective management of subcontractors, ensuring adherence to site safety programs while supervising construction progress and maintaining quality control.

The Construction Manager's responsibilities extend to contract administration, job site inspections, permitting, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing change orders, and coordinating field engineering as well as inspection and third-party testing. Being client-facing, this role demands excellent communication skills with interactions involving owners, subcontractors, building officials, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. Strong technical skills are necessary to proficiently use software programs, including a working knowledge of AutoCAD which is considered a plus. The role also supports facility start-ups, project close-out activities, and fosters continuous communication and collaboration among internal and external teams.
