Job Description
Thomas Concrete is a leader in the production and delivery of high-quality concrete products, known for its commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability within the construction materials industry. As a company, Thomas Concrete prides itself on creating a dynamic and supportive work environment that values each employee's contributions towards building a better future. Their focus on cutting-edge technology and industry best practices positions them as a trusted partner in construction projects ranging from residential foundations to large-scale commercial developments. With an emphasis on sustainable practices, Thomas Concrete continually seeks ways to minimize environmental impact while ensuring superior concrete performance and longevity. The company is dedicated to fostering professional growth among its team members, encouraging learning, development, and advancement in multiple career pathways within the organization.
The role of the Concrete Mixer Truck Driver at Thomas Concrete is vital to the company’s mission of delivering top-quality concrete to job sites safely and efficiently. This position requires an individual who can drive a truck equipped with an auxiliary concrete mixer, managing the delivery of ready-mixed concrete with precision and professionalism. The driver’s responsibilities extend beyond merely operating the vehicle; they involve conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring that the truck is in a safe operating condition at all times. Drivers will be responsible for coordinating with plant operators to load the truck with the necessary raw materials—such as sand, rock, cement, and water—and activating the mixer to maintain concrete consistency.
Driving to various customer job sites requires the driver to assess potential hazards and safety concerns proactively. They serve as the on-site representative of Thomas Concrete, upholding the company’s reputation by maintaining a professional demeanor and addressing customer needs collaboratively to resolve on-site issues. Attention to detail is critical, as drivers guarantee the proper slump and consistency of the concrete during the pour, efficiently handling and assembling concrete chutes and manipulators. Accurate documentation of each delivery, including arrival times, pour times, and water additions, ensures transparency and traceability.
The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards, requiring the use of personal protective equipment and ongoing maintenance of the vehicle. Responsibilities include rinsing and cleaning chutes and truck surfaces to prevent concrete hardening, washing and fueling the truck, conducting routine tire changes, and participating in preventive maintenance programs. Drivers are also expected to contribute to the overall plant environment by assisting with equipment maintenance requests and participating in housekeeping duties.
This position demands physical endurance, as the job regularly involves lifting heavy materials, climbing, stooping, and working under various weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat and loud environments. Candidates must hold a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and possess a current DOT physical card, as these certifications are mandatory for operating commercial vehicles.
Thomas Concrete offers a fulfilling opportunity for truck drivers who are safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and customer-focused. Joining the team means becoming part of a company that values teamwork, safety, and quality, while making a tangible impact on construction projects and the communities they serve. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary reflective of the industry standards and the critical nature of the work performed. If you are motivated to work in a challenging yet supportive environment where your skills and dedication lead to real-world results, Thomas Concrete is the place to grow your career and make a meaningful difference.
