Job Description

Avera Surgical Center-Sioux Falls is a prominent healthcare facility dedicated to providing high-quality surgical and medical care to patients in the Sioux Falls area. As part of the larger Avera Health system, which is known for its compassionate approach and commitment to Moving Health Forward, this center operates with a patient-first philosophy that emphasizes collaborative care, innovation, and community wellness. The facility is staffed by multidisciplinary teams that include surgeons, nurses, administrative personnel, and support staff, all working together to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. Avera Surgical Center is distinguished by its state-of-the-art equipment, patient-centric environment, and its commitment to comfort and safety for all who enter its doors. The center embraces values such as compassion, hospitality, stewardship, and community engagement, and these core principles shape every aspect of its operations and service delivery. Employment at Avera Surgical Center offers professionals the opportunity to work in a dynamic, supportive environment that prioritizes the well-being of both patients and staff.

The available position at Avera Surgical Center-Sioux Falls is a PRN role, meaning employees are hired to work on an as-needed basis with flexible scheduling. This particular job is scheduled Monday through Friday from 4:45 AM until noon, offering early morning shifts that support the center's operational needs. The pay range for this position is competitive, set between $17.50 and $21.50 per hour, and the actual rate is commensurate with the applicant's experience and qualifications. This role primarily involves being the welcoming face of the facility, greeting patients, families, and visitors while providing clear and helpful directions and support to everyone who needs assistance. It requires someone who is highly visible and approachable, serving as an informational resource and navigator throughout the facility.

In addition to greeting and guiding customers, the role includes promoting the services offered within the surgical center, ensuring that information is up to date by collaborating with other departments. The employee will also provide technology support such as assisting with equipment needs and managing room scheduling including setup and teardown for various events or procedures. The position demands awareness to identify trends in visitor inquiries and the ability to suggest improvements to processes and services to enhance the patient and family experience. Effective communication skills, visual acuity, and the ability to understand spoken information clearly are essential for success in this role. The position expects commitment to Avera's mission, vision, and values and the ability to work efficiently in a team setting while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with experience in healthcare, program administration, hospitality, or customer service who want to contribute to a respected healthcare organization's mission of compassion and quality care.
