As part of the larger Avera Health system, this hospital integrates innovative practices and multidisciplinary approaches to healthcare, emphasizing quality, patient-centered service, and community health advancement. The hospital operates with a mission to move health forward by fostering a compassionate environment that supports patients, staff, and visitors alike. It's a place where healthcare professionals are empowered to make a real difference in the lives of patients every day.

This position is a regular, primarily day-shift role based at Avera McKennan Hospital, offering an hourly pay range of $17.50 to $21.50, depending on experience. The job involves welcoming and guiding internal and external customers, including patients and their families, with a strong emphasis on delivering excellent service and helpful information. The successful candidate will be highly visible as the hospital's first point of contact, responsible for greeting and navigating patients, families, staff, and visitors throughout the facility. They will serve as an information resource, assist with technology needs, manage room scheduling, and ensure equipment and room setups are handled efficiently. Moreover, this role encourages proactive identification of service trends, making meaningful recommendations to improve processes and fill gaps, thereby enhancing overall patient and visitor experience. The work shift may include weekends, evenings, and holidays, reflecting the hospital's commitment to continuous patient support. This role demands strong communication skills, visual acuity, and the ability to listen and respond effectively. Candidates with at least a high school diploma or GED and 1-3 years of experience in healthcare, program administration, hospitality, or customer service will be ideal. Preference is given to those holding a bachelor’s degree. The position aligns with Avera’s core values, including compassion, hospitality, stewardship, and maintaining high standards of communication, attitude, responsiveness, and engagement. Teamwork is essential, as is compliance with various safety and regulatory standards such as those from CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA. Employees at Avera McKennan Hospital benefit from a supportive work environment with a range of benefits, including paid time off from day one for eligible hires, employer retirement matching contributions of up to 5%, as well as career development opportunities through hands-on training and mentorship. Overall, this role offers professionals a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a leading healthcare institution where their efforts directly impact patient well-being and community health.
