Job Description

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide, community-based organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With over 1.3 million volunteers and numerous dedicated employees, ACS is committed to raising the bar in cancer prevention, research, education, and patient services. The organization is renowned for its diverse and inclusive culture, employing professionals from a variety of backgrounds to better serve communities affected by cancer. Headquartered in the United States, ACS focuses not only on scientific advancements but also on providing critical support and resources to patients and their families during their cancer journey.

As a part-time Concierge based in Rochester, Minnesota, you will play an essential role on the frontline of guest interaction at one of ACS's patient lodges or facilities. The Concierge serves as the crucial first point of contact, managing all aspects of front desk operations. This role is designed to ensure a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for all visitors, many of whom are patients undergoing treatment and their loved ones. Your responsibilities will include greeting guests warmly, managing efficient check-in and check-out procedures, and responding promptly to inquiries.

The position also requires coordination of transportation and services provided by the EMPOWER Program, which supports patients' access to treatment and care. Handling guest requests, concerns, and emergencies with empathy and professionalism is paramount. Additionally, maintaining an organized front desk area, accurate guest records, and monitoring lobby security to enforce safety protocols are key aspects of this role. The schedule for this part-time position runs from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Sunday through Wednesday, with an hourly wage of $18.59. Employees in this role are eligible for full benefits, including paid time off, medical and dental insurance, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities. Furthermore, shift differential pay is offered for the Sunday hours worked.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about making a direct impact on people facing complex health challenges, especially those who possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The American Cancer Society values independent work, multitasking abilities, and customer service excellence. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems is beneficial. Candidates should be prepared for some physical activity such as standing for extended periods and occasional lifting or assisting guests with their belongings.

Working for ACS as a Concierge will not only provide valuable experience in hospitality and patient services but also the rewarding feeling of supporting a life-saving mission. ACS prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, offering a supportive workplace where employees and volunteers alike share a common goal to end cancer. Join ACS and be part of a dynamic team contributing positively to the community in Rochester and beyond.
