Job Description
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Founded in 1913, ACS has grown to become one of the most respected and influential cancer organizations, with a mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, ACS operates through a network of offices and volunteers across the United States, providing support and resources to cancer patients and their families, funding groundbreaking research, and advocating for public policies that promote cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship. The organization fosters a culture that embraces diversity and inclusion, bringing together employees and 1.3 million volunteers to make meaningful impacts in the communities they serve.
The part-time Concierge position at Hope Lodge in Omaha, Nebraska, offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute directly to the comfort and care of cancer patients and their families. Hope Lodge is a unique facility operated by the American Cancer Society that provides free lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers when treatment requires travel away from home. In this role, the Concierge acts as the primary front-line ambassador, ensuring guests receive exceptional hospitality and support during their stay.
Working from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday through Wednesday, and 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursdays, this role earns $18.59 per hour with additional shift differential pay for hours worked after 6:00pm. The Concierge is responsible for managing front desk operations, providing warm greetings, assisting with check-in and check-out procedures, and addressing guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Beyond front desk duties, the Concierge coordinates transportation services, arranging safe and timely rides for guests to and from appointments. This includes driving guests in a courteous manner, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and performing routine inspections. Administrative support tasks such as managing communications, maintaining accurate guest records, processing reservations, and assisting with filing and data entry are also key parts of the position.
Safety and security are paramount; the Concierge monitors lobby areas, implements security protocols, and responds to emergencies according to established procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and proficiency with computer and telephone systems. Flexibility is essential, as is the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members in a fast-paced environment.
This role requires physical stamina for standing and walking during shifts and the ability to lift and move luggage as necessary. The American Cancer Society provides generous benefits including paid time off, medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities. As a proud equal opportunity employer, ACS is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all employees and applicants have equal opportunities for success.
