Job Description
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Founded with the mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer, the organization empowers individuals and communities through research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Their dedicated employees and over 1.3 million volunteers continuously raise the bar every day to make strides in cancer prevention and care. With a commitment to inclusion, diversity, and serving communities from all walks of life, the American Cancer Society fosters a culture where diverse backgrounds and experiences enhance their ability to serve effectively. This organization stands as a beacon of hope and support for cancer patients and their families, offering critical resources that improve quality of life and outcomes across the United States.
The Concierge role at the American Cancer Society is a vital frontline position serving as the first point of contact for guests. This role manages all front desk operations and plays a key part in creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for individuals who visit the organization’s facilities. As a Concierge, you will be responsible for greeting guests, managing their check-in and check-out, providing information about lodge amenities and community resources, and coordinating transportation and the EMPOWER Program services and schedules. Additionally, this role involves responding promptly and empathetically to guest requests, concerns, and emergencies while maintaining an organized front desk area and accurate guest records. The Concierge also monitors lobby security to ensure the safety of guests and staff, implementing appropriate safety protocols as needed.
This position is structured as full-time employment, working Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with a competitive pay rate of $19.50 per hour. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment, excel at multitasking, and have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Ideal candidates bring a minimum of one year of customer service experience and familiarity with multi-line phone systems and Microsoft Office applications. The American Cancer Society values communication skills, independence, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility, as occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary. The role may require physical stamina for extended periods of standing or walking and occasionally assisting guests with luggage or other physical tasks. Working as a Concierge here means more than just a job; it is a calling to contribute meaningfully to a lifesaving mission while working in an inclusive, supportive environment that offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, retirement plans, and wellness programs.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a respected nonprofit organization that is dedicated to making a difference in the fight against cancer. If you are committed to customer service and want to be part of a passionate team working towards a profound cause, this Concierge position at the American Cancer Society is an ideal fit. You will have the chance to directly impact guests' experiences and support a mission that has a lasting impact on individuals and communities nationwide.
