Job Description
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With a commitment to innovation, research, education, and patient support, the society works to save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. They leverage the efforts of 1.3 million volunteers and a dedicated workforce united by a common goal: to end cancer as we know it for everyone. Their culture emphasizes diversity, inclusivity, and service excellence, aiming to better meet the unique needs of the communities they serve.
The role of Concierge at the American Cancer Society is vital as it provides the first point of contact for guests visiting the organization’s facilities. This position is responsible for managing front desk operations, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for all guests. The Concierge greets guests upon arrival, manages check-in and check-out procedures, and provides information about lodge amenities and community resources. Additionally, the Concierge helps coordinate transportation and services related to the EMPOWER Program, responding swiftly to guest requests, concerns, and emergencies. Monitoring lobby security and implementing safety protocols is also a critical component of the role.
The Concierge position at the American Cancer Society is a part-time role, scheduled Sunday through Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM, totaling 32 hours weekly. The pay rate is $19.50 per hour, with eligibility for shift differential pay for hours worked outside regular day shifts. Shift differentials include a 10% increase for weekday hours worked after 6:00 PM and a 15% increase for weekend hours worked on Saturday and Sunday. This opportunity offers an engaging work environment within a leading non-profit, focused on a life-changing mission.
Candidates for this role will find themselves part of a supportive team committed to making a difference in the lives affected by cancer. The position demands strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask and work independently, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems. The Concierge will contribute to the organization’s welcoming atmosphere by delivering excellent customer service and problem-solving capabilities. Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends is required.
Physically, the role involves standing and walking for extended periods and occasional lifting or moving of luggage or packages to assist guests properly. The position requires physical endurance to manage the fast-paced demands of guest services.
The American Cancer Society fosters a work environment that supports employee well-being through generous paid time off policies, medical and dental benefits, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and professional development opportunities that enhance staff skills. As an equal opportunity employer, they embrace diversity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply to join their dedicated team.
