Job Description
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. With a presence across the United States, including Tampa, Florida, the organization is driven by a mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. The American Cancer Society employs a diverse team of more than 1.3 million volunteers and staff members who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer. The culture at American Cancer Society celebrates inclusivity, diversity, and a shared commitment to the lifesaving mission. Each staff member’s work is considered a calling, contributing to efforts in research, education, advocacy, and patient services.
The role of Concierge at the American Cancer Society's lodging and support services is essential to fostering a welcoming, safe, and empathetic environment for guests who rely on the organization’s amenities. As the first point of contact, the Concierge manages front desk operations from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Sunday through Wednesday, ensuring smooth check-in and check-out procedures. This part-time position pays $18.59 per hour and involves a blend of customer service, administrative, and operational tasks designed to support the organization's guests during their stay.
The Concierge provides critical information about lodge facilities and community resources, supporting guests any time they require assistance, including in emergency situations. Additionally, the role involves coordinating transportation and EMPOWER Program schedules, ensuring guests can access necessary services efficiently. Monitoring lobby security and implementing safety protocols to maintain a secure environment is also a vital aspect of the role. The position demands excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems. The Concierge must be able to multitask and work independently while maintaining a compassionate and professional demeanor.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, occasionally lift or move luggage and packages, and perform manual tasks such as carrying luggage or opening doors for guests. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends. The American Cancer Society supports its employees with a generous paid time off policy, medical and dental benefits, retirement plans, wellness programs, and opportunities for professional development. This ensures that staff members are not only able to contribute effectively but are also cared for and supported in their personal and professional growth. The organization is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the communities it serves.
