Job Description
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Since its inception, the society has been committed to saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer. With a network of over 1.3 million volunteers and dedicated employees, the organization focuses on research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Their multifaceted approach helps improve cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and quality of life for those affected.
As a mission-driven nonprofit organization, the American Cancer Society achieves its goals by leveraging the diverse talents and passion of its workforce who are motivated by a shared commitment to make a meaningful impact. The culture is inclusive, embracing diversity of backgrounds, skills, and experiences to better serve various communities and address health disparities.
The Concierge role at the American Cancer Society is a vital position interfacing directly with guests and visitors, ensuring a warm and professional welcome while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. This part-time role, with working hours scheduled from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays, and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Wednesdays, offers an hourly wage of $18.59. The Concierge manages front desk operations, greets guests, facilitates check-in and check-out procedures, and provides information regarding amenities and community resources.
In this position, the Concierge plays a critical role in coordinating transportation and EMPOWER Program services and schedules, responding promptly to guest requests, concerns, or emergencies, and ensuring organized front desk operations with meticulous record-keeping. Additional responsibilities include monitoring lobby security and implementing safety protocols to protect guests and staff. This dynamic position requires strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to multitask effectively, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and multi-line phone systems.
The role involves some physical activities such as standing and walking for extended periods, assisting with luggage or packages, and opening doors for guests. Therefore, candidates should be prepared for the physical demands associated with this fast-paced environment. The American Cancer Society values its employees by providing comprehensive benefits, including medical and dental insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, wellness programs, and opportunities for professional development. They are an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where every employee is respected and valued.
