Job Description

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Founded over a century ago, ACS has been at the forefront of cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services. With the support of more than 1.3 million volunteers and employees, the organization works tirelessly to improve cancer outcomes and support those impacted by the disease. ACS is known for its commitment to scientific breakthroughs, community outreach, and support programs that help patients and families navigate the challenges posed by cancer.

As an established nonprofit organization located in Baltimore, Maryland, the American Cancer Society offers a wide range of programs focused on cancer prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship. The organization strives to foster a diverse and inclusive environment where every individual's contribution furthers the mission of ending cancer. Part-time employment opportunities, like the Concierge position, provide meaningful roles for those passionate about making a difference in their communities while maintaining flexibility.

The Concierge position at ACS serves as the first point of contact for guests, ensuring that every visitor experiences a warm, safe, and supportive atmosphere. This role involves managing front desk operations with professionalism and attentiveness, coordinating guest check-ins and check-outs, and responding effectively to inquiries and requests. The Concierge also assists in coordinating transportation and ensuring security protocols are upheld, which are essential to maintaining a safe environment for guests and staff alike. This position offers an hourly wage of $19.54 and is ideal for individuals with excellent customer service skills who thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven workplace.

This role requires strong multitasking abilities and the capacity to work independently while representing the values and goals of the American Cancer Society. Beyond basic front desk duties, the Concierge provides essential information about lodge amenities and community resources, contributing to a comprehensive support system for guests. The position demands a keen eye for detail to maintain accurate records and an organized workspace, promoting efficiency at all times.

In addition to contributing to patient and guest care, the Concierge plays a critical role in coordinating transportation schedules and responding to emergencies or concerns promptly. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, is a key requirement, reflecting the organization's commitment to providing around-the-clock support. Overall, this role is integral to fostering a welcoming environment that aligns with the compassionate mission of ACS, providing staff with valuable experience in hospitality and patient services within a nonprofit setting.
