Founded over a century ago, it has grown into one of the largest and most established nonprofit organizations in the United States. With a robust network of employees and 1.3 million volunteers, the society is dedicated to raising awareness, advancing research, and providing crucial support services to cancer patients and their families. Their efforts span advocacy, education, research funding, and patient services, all aimed at improving cancer outcomes and quality of life. The organization takes pride in fostering an inclusive and diverse work culture, reflective of the multifaceted communities they serve.
Located in Honolulu, Hawaii, this position is part-time and offers a pay rate of $20.48 per hour. The role includes full benefits and additional shift differential pay due to hours worked after 6:00 pm, highlighting the organization's commitment to valuing their workforce.
The Concierge-Driver role at Hope Lodge within the American Cancer Society is a unique and vital position. It combines elements of guest service and transportation support tailored specifically for cancer patients staying at the lodge while undergoing treatment. Simultaneously, this role serves as the primary transportation provider, responsible for safely operating lodge vehicles to transport guests to and from medical appointments and approved destinations. This function requires exceptional driving skills, a professional demeanor, and a compassionate attitude to support guests who may be in vulnerable health situations. Maintaining transportation schedules and ensuring vehicles are clean, safe, and well-maintained is also crucial for this position.
The Concierge-Driver must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to respond effectively to guest requests, concerns, and emergencies. They also support front desk operations, including handling phones, emails, and lobby security when necessary. This dynamic role supports the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society by enhancing the guest experience, ensuring safe and timely transportation, and contributing to overall lodge operations.
