Job Description

American Cancer Society is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer and its impact on individuals and communities. With a strong network of 1.3 million volunteers and dedicated employees, the organization focuses on lifesaving research, patient support, advocacy efforts, and education to reduce cancer prevalence and mortality. The culture at the American Cancer Society embraces diversity and inclusion, encouraging employees from a variety of backgrounds to contribute their talents to this critical mission. The organization seeks to create a compassionate and supportive environment where every staff member feels fulfilled by their role in improving lives. Based in Oklahoma City, the American Cancer Society operates Hope Lodge, a facility that provides free lodging and support to cancer patients and their caregivers during treatment away from home.

The Concierge-Driver position at Hope Lodge is a full-time role that serves as a vital connection between the lodge guests and their medical appointments or community resources. This role combines guest service excellence with transportation responsibilities, requiring a candidate who is both a reliable driver and a welcoming ambassador. Working Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Concierge-Driver ensures the safe and timely transport of guests in lodge vehicles. In addition to driving, this individual handles front desk duties such as greeting guests, managing check-in and check-out processes, and providing information about lodge amenities and local resources. Attention to detail is paramount, as the role involves conducting daily vehicle inspections, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring vehicles are ready for operation.

Safety, punctuality, and compassionate interaction with guests are crucial aspects of the job. The Concierge-Driver responds to guest requests and emergencies with professionalism and empathy, supporting a positive and welcoming stay. Accurate record-keeping of transportation logs and guest data is maintained to support operational efficiency. The role also supports front desk operations including managing phones, emails, and lobby security when needed. This position requires physical stamina for standing, walking, assisting guests with luggage, and extended periods of safe driving.

Candidates for this role should hold a high school diploma or equivalent and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Experience in passenger transport or shuttle services is preferred, along with prior hospitality or guest service experience. Strong defensive driving skills, communication abilities, and the capacity to assist guests with mobility challenges are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reservation systems is also beneficial.

The pay rate for this position is $19.50 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous paid time off, medical and dental coverage, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and professional development opportunities. The American Cancer Society is a proud equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and providing equitable employment opportunities. This role offers a meaningful way to contribute to the well-being of cancer patients while working in a supportive and mission-driven environment.
