Job Description

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Founded on the principles of providing support, education, advocacy, and research funding, the organization has a significant impact on the lives of millions. With a strong reputation in public health and community service, the American Cancer Society operates in diverse communities across the United States, engaging 1.3 million volunteers in addition to its dedicated employees. This diverse and inclusive culture fosters an environment that promotes innovation, empathy, and a commitment to its lifesaving mission to end cancer as we know it for everyone.

The American Cancer Society is currently seeking a Concierge-Driver to join the team at Hope Lodge, one of its key supportive housing facilities for cancer patients and their caregivers. This full-time position operates from Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering a pay rate of $19.50 per hour. The Concierge-Driver plays a pivotal role in the guest experience by serving as a welcoming front desk ambassador as well as the primary transportation provider for lodge guests. This dual responsibility requires excellent customer service skills, dependable driving abilities, and a compassionate approach to supporting patients and families navigating cancer treatment.

In this role, the Concierge-Driver is responsible for safely transporting guests to medical appointments and community resources, ensuring their timely arrival and departure. Beyond transportation, the position involves managing transportation schedules, conducting daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety and cleanliness, and maintaining accurate records of transportation activities such as mileage logs. The Concierge-Driver also supports front desk operations including guest check-in and check-out, responding to inquiries, and providing information about lodge amenities and local resources. Handling guest requests, concerns and emergencies with professionalism and empathy is a critical aspect of this role.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and preferably experience in passenger transport or hospitality. Strong communication skills and the ability to assist guests with mobility challenges are essential to delivering a high level of guest service. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reservation systems further supports effective operational performance. Physically, the role requires stamina to manage extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting, as well as the coordination necessary for safe vehicle operation.

Joining the American Cancer Society means becoming part of a mission-driven organization that values diversity, innovation, and community impact. The Concierge-Driver contributes directly to improving the experience of cancer patients and their caregivers by ensuring safe and reliable transportation and providing compassionate frontline guest services. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day, supported by a generous benefits package including paid time off, medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and professional development programs. Candidates with relevant experience and passion for service are encouraged to apply to help fulfill the organization’s commitment to end cancer through support, care, and advocacy.
