Job Description
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is a nationally recognized pediatric hospital committed to improving children’s health through a holistic team approach encompassing patient care, family support, and pioneering scientific research. Established as one of the top 10 children’s hospitals in the United States for over 15 years, Cincinnati Children’s has earned a reputation for excellence, innovation, and compassionate care. With consistent ranking among the top three children’s hospitals for National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding, the institution is dedicated to advancing medical knowledge and treatment outcomes in pediatric health. It is also recognized as one of America’s Best Large Employers and one of the nation’s most innovative companies, providing an inspiring and supportive environment for staff and patients alike. At Cincinnati Children’s, there is a strong emphasis on fostering work environments that embrace innovation, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence, to enhance both operational efficiency and quality of care. The hospital’s commitment to inclusion, equity, and diversity is evident in its equal opportunity employment policies and its recognition as a leading disability employer. This welcoming culture ensures that every employee, patient, and family experiences respect, dignity, and support throughout their journey at CCHMC.
The position available is a full-time Guest Services role based at the Burnet Campus, which offers a day shift from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This role is pivotal in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients, families, and visitors by providing or arranging necessary services ranging from transportation and accommodations to local dining and activities tailored to individual needs. The starting pay range for this position is approximately $19.29 to $23.92 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience and status. Guest Services at Cincinnati Children’s is designed to bridge the gap between clinical care and family support by addressing non-medical needs and facilitating seamless coordination with various hospital and community resources. The incumbent will proactively interact with families prior to their arrival to assess and address their needs, monitor guest arrivals, coordinate logistics such as lodging and transportation—including for international families—and resolve concerns related to housing and local amenities. Cultural competence and sensitivity are essential elements of this role to ensure respect for the diverse backgrounds of the hospital’s visitors.
In addition to direct guest support, this role involves resource management responsibilities, including staying well-informed about hospital policy changes, clinic locations, and ongoing events, to clearly communicate updates to families and staff. The Guest Services associate acts as a conduit to internal and external resources, maintaining strong relationships with community businesses and organizations to enhance support networks for families. Collaborative efforts with departments such as Patient Shuttle and Disaster Management are part of the job, especially in managing inclement weather lodging needs for employees and visitors. Community engagement is another key area, involving outreach to establish and nurture partnerships that benefit patients and families, as well as managing social media channels to promote services and provide timely information.
Data management tasks include documenting inquiries from families and staff, innovatively resolving issues, and maintaining appointment and eligibility data for associated patient programs like the Ronald McDonald House. The position also assists in event planning, ensuring safety and infection control standards are met, supporting educational programs, and participating in special projects and committees. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of related work experience, and will contribute to the hospital’s mission of making children’s health better with energy, care, and professionalism. Cincinnati Children’s offers a comprehensive and inclusive workplace environment, where employees are empowered to grow, innovate, and improve patient and family experiences continuously.
