The Concierge role at Clara Maass Medical Center, a vital part of RWJBarnabas Health, is an hourly position paying $21.70 per hour, designed to provide exceptional assistance and information to patients and visitors in the SDS/Endoscopy areas as well as the Main Lobby. As a Concierge, you will serve as an ambassador for these areas, ensuring that each patient and visitor receives age-specific support tailored to their needs. This includes escorting patients and visitors, assisting with wheelchairs, promptly managing inquiries, addressing requests and complaints, and maintaining a welcoming, orderly environment. The role demands excellent communication skills, a calm demeanor in emergency situations, and the ability to accurately provide information and resolve minor issues. This position involves working day shifts and requires availability on weekends and holidays, with scheduling based on department needs. The Concierge helps uphold the patient-centered mission of RWJBarnabas Health by enhancing the patient and visitor experience from the moment they enter the facility. Confidentiality and safety awareness are core components of this role, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Act as an ambassador for the Main Lobby and SDS/Endoscopy area by providing special assistance and information to patients and visitors
  • Assess each patient and visitor's age-specific needs and provide age-specific assistance, treatment, and care
  • Oversee the Main Lobby and SDS waiting area and promptly resolve patient and visitor requests, issues, or complaints
  • Escort and assist patients and visitors to their desired location or car, if needed
  • Offer assistance with a wheelchair, as needed
  • Promptly answer telephone calls
  • Use a clear, understandable speaking voice, exercise judgment, respond to inquiries with accurate information regarding hours of operation, directions, etc., according to individual needs
  • Promptly resolve minor issues and inform the patient advocates/representatives of any significant patient and visitor complaints
  • Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and heavy patient and visitor volume
  • Using the telephone, verbally arrange and confirm individual needs both inside and outside the facility
  • Promptly respond to requests for doctors, transportation arrangements, etc.
  • Follow proper safety and infection control procedures and maintain a safe work environment
  • Frequently converse with patients and visitors as they wait in the lobby
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
  • Maintain a neat and organized environment in the Lobby
  • Notify Environmental Services when excessive spills or litter require their attention
  • Maintain a neat, organized, and stocked work area
  • Maintain confidentiality of the patient's condition and other personal information, and limit work/patient-related discussions to private areas
