The role of Lobby Receptionist at the Jewish Home of Rochester is critical in ensuring a warm, professional first impression for visitors, residents, and staff. This position serves as the central point of communication and safety within the facility’s lobby area. The primary responsibility is to greet and welcome all visitors, residents, and employees in a courteous and professional manner, provide clear and accurate information about the Home's daily activities, services, and procedures, and maintain vigilant observation of the lobby to uphold the safety and welfare of all residents, especially those wearing Wander Alert Tags. The role requires effective coordination with security personnel and vigilant monitoring of fire alarms, door alarms, elevator systems, and wandering resident alerts. In addition to monitoring safety protocols, the Receptionist manages administrative tasks such as logging visitors and vendors, handling package receipt procedures after noon, and facilitating admission processes for new residents by liaising with social workers and nursing staff. This position demands strong computer skills, particularly proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other computer systems used for resident information and activity tracking. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to multitask under pressure are essential. The Receptionist’s duties contribute significantly to the smooth operation of the Jewish Home of Rochester, ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for everyone who enters the facility. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year experience in front desk operations including public contact
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and computer programs related to resident information
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deal with the public
  • Must be able to monitor multiple security and alert systems
  • Ability to assist with resident admissions and coordination with nursing staff
  • Willingness to follow facility policies and safety procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year experience in front desk operations including public contact and information dispersal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and other relevant computer programs
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff
  • Experience in a healthcare or residential setting preferred

Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes visitors, residents and staff in a professional manner
  • Provides information on daily activities and services
  • Monitors the lobby area with priority to wander alert residents
  • Ensures all visitors and vendors sign in and out in the guest logs
  • Takes and gives messages for all departments
  • Accepts and signs for packages received after 12:00 pm
  • Assists in the admission of new residents by notifying assigned social workers and coordinating with nursing staff
  • Monitors security systems including fire alarms, door alarms and elevator alarms
  • Inputs data into computer systems for admissions, re-admissions, discharges and room moves
  • Performs all other job duties as assigned
