Job Description
The Gwen Hotel is a distinguished luxury hotel located in downtown Chicago, with a deep-rooted connection to the city's historical and cultural heritage from the 1930s. Known for its majestic Art Deco façade, originally crafted by sculptress Gwen Lux, the hotel stands as a proud emblem of a transformative era when Chicago celebrated its centennial and thrived with its unique blend of speakeasies and gangster history. Embracing this golden age while catering to modern-day travelers, The Gwen offers a luxurious and authentic hospitality experience that combines historical charm with contemporary comfort. As one of HEI Hotels and Resorts' prestigious properties, The Gwen is committed to delivering exceptional guest service through a team that values professionalism, personal growth, and inclusivity.
The Concierge role at The Gwen is integral to enhancing guest satisfaction and creating memorable experiences for visitors. This position invites highly motivated individuals who enjoy interacting with a diverse clientele and thrive in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment. The Concierge assists guests with a wide range of needs and requests, including answering questions about local dining, entertainment, recreational activities, transportation, cultural events, shopping, and other hotel services. This role requires someone who possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with both guests and team members.
In addition to providing directions and facilitating guest requests such as reservations and packages, the Concierge serves as an ambassador of The Gwen by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of hotel offerings and Chicago attractions. The role supports a positive guest experience by being highly responsive and professional, thereby contributing to the hotel’s reputation for outstanding service. Candidates for this position should have at least one year of experience in a public contact role, with hotel experience preferred but not mandatory. The job offers a competitive hourly wage of $26.50, eligibility for tips or service charges, and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, and many more perks aimed at supporting the well-being and growth of the employee.
HEI Hotels and Resorts values diversity and inclusion, encouraging candidates from all backgrounds to apply, including those with U.S. military experience. The company is committed to creating a respectful and welcoming environment for all associates, promoting career development opportunities, and fostering a culture where employees can succeed and thrive. Employees also benefit from free lunches, uniform provision, transit benefits, and opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement. The Gwen invites candidates to contribute their unique stories and talents, helping to shape an extraordinary hospitality experience for every guest who walks through its historic doors.
