The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex seeks a motivated Concessions Worker to join the Sodexo team on a part-time basis. This role involves supporting high-volume, event-based concessions operations where fast, efficient service and product availability are critical. Concessions Workers at this venue play an essential role in preparing, stocking, and serving a variety of food and beverage items across multiple concession locations, including permanent stands, mobile units, kiosks, and autonomous retail stores. The position requires adaptability to different service formats, such as grab-and-go and made-to-order items, and demands a strong focus on teamwork, cleanliness, and speed during live events.

This part-time position offers varying shifts, primarily days and hours with an emphasis on open availability. Compensation ranges from $14.58 to $19.68 per hour, reflecting the importance of maintaining quality service during peak event times. Team members assist with all phases of concession operations including preparation, assembly, equipment operation, and safety compliance. The Concessions Worker must be physically capable of lifting and moving items up to 40 pounds and dedicated to punctual attendance and regular work schedules.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Prior concessions, food service, or customer service experience preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
  • Must maintain a valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification and comply with all state-specific alcohol training requirements
  • A Food Handler certification may be required based on state or local regulations
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds
  • Willingness to work varying shifts with open availability preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare, assemble, and serve concession food and beverage items according to established recipes, portion standards, and concessions procedures
  • Assist with opening and closing concession locations, including setup, breakdown, and cleanup
  • Operate basic food service equipment such as warmers, grills, fryers, or beverage dispensers as assigned
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Support inventory management and ensure product availability throughout events
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all concession areas
