Job Description

The University of Oregon is a prestigious public research university located in Eugene, Oregon. Renowned for its academic excellence, vibrant campus life, and strong community engagement, the university serves a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff. The Intercollegiate Athletics Department at the University of Oregon is a dynamic, competitive division committed to fostering the growth and development of student-athletes. The department's mission goes beyond athletics to provide a holistic student-athlete experience focusing on both academic and athletic excellence. The department emphasizes a culture of integrity, diversity, and inclusivity, ensuring a supportive and motivating environment for student-athletes and staff alike.

The role of Concessions Event Manager is a vital position within the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, centered on the management and oversight of food and beverage operations during athletic events. This regular, ongoing position based in Eugene, Oregon, is classified under Officer of Administration and offers a salary commensurate with experience. The Concessions Event Manager is responsible for the entire lifecycle of concession services at University of Oregon sporting events, including pre-event setup, operations during the event, and post-event breakdown and cleanup. Managing potentially up to 80 temporary part-time and student employees, the manager is tasked with hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating staff to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery aligned with the department’s goals of excellence and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the role requires overseeing volunteer teams from non-profit groups, guiding approximately 40 groups with up to 50 members each, coordinating their schedules and ensuring they meet operational standards.

This position demands flexibility and availability beyond regular business hours, including nights and weekends, to meet the scheduling needs of athletic events. The Concessions Event Manager must uphold and promote the philosophy and objectives of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department and ensure compliance with the University's policies, as well as the regulations set forth by the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential to foster productive teamwork and excellent customer relations. Expertise in inventory control and cash management is critical due to the financial and logistical aspects of the role. The Concessions Event Manager plays a strategic role in sustaining high-quality food and beverage services that enhance the spectator experience and contribute to the overall success of athletic events at the University of Oregon.
