The role of Concession Cook at Toyota Arena, a Legends Global partner venue, is a vital part of the Food & Beverage department. This part-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager and offers a competitive wage of $26.25 per hour. Located at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, the Concession Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of hot and cold food items in alignment with company standards and the operational benchmarks set by the venue. Due to the venue’s unionized environment, employees are required to be members of the Unite Here Local 11 union.

The Concession Cook’s primary responsibilities include organizing and maintaining kitchen equipment, ensuring consistent attention to detail in food preparation and service, and adhering to company dress codes that emphasize safety and professionalism. The cook must efficiently prepare, measure, and portion food items while maintaining the highest standards of quality, sanitation, and food safety. This role also involves opening and closing duties, waste management, equipment sanitation, and contributing to an organized and well-stocked workstation.

Candidates for this position must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21 years old, and possess between six months to one year of food service experience. Training includes obtaining a valid food handler’s card and TIPS certification, which the company supports and compensates for. The ability to perform under flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential along with strong communication, organization, and customer service skills. Physical requirements involve moderate physical activity such as lifting up to 25 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and working in varied indoor and outdoor event settings.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a minimum 21 years of age
  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • 6 months to 1-year previous food service experience desired
  • Must be flexible, have a sense of urgency, be able to respond quickly and resourcefully to internal and external issues
  • Working knowledge of food production techniques, purchasing, and sanitation procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take tasks that are not clearly defined and appropriately define problem, propose and implement solutions
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all staff and vendors
  • Present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Must be energetic, self-disciplined with a strong sense of initiative
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Positive attitude and neat appearance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6 months to 1-year previous food service experience desired
  • Valid food handler’s card obtained within 30 days of hire
  • TIPS certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interact with all levels of customers and staff including management
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Positive attitude and neat appearance

Job Duties

  • Assist in maintaining, organizing and cleaning all equipment
  • Attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of service
  • Adhere to company dress code including wearing black pants and non-slip soled closed toe shoes
  • Properly prepare, measure, and portion all food items in a timely manner
  • Comply with all quality standards, department rules, policies and procedures
  • Utilize and set up kitchen equipment to prepare food items
  • Package all products to proper specifications
  • Perform opening, closing and side work duties as instructed
  • Keep workstation and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
  • Use waste control guidelines and record all waste on spoilage sheet
  • Understand and maintain proper sanitation and food safety
  • Abide by all company policies in the Human Resources Policies and Procedures, the Business Code of Conduct
  • Other duties as assigned
