Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in integrated facilities management and food services, dedicated to improving the quality of life for the customers and communities it serves. Operating across various sectors including education, healthcare, corporate services, and sports and leisure, Sodexo emphasizes the importance of acting with purpose and fostering a workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and respect. At its core, Sodexo strives to create a better everyday for everyone by delivering exceptional service experiences through its wide range of solutions such as catering, food service, and facilities management. The company is committed to continuously developing its employees by offering opportunities for career advancement, ongoing training, and a supportive work environment. Sodexo’s values promote fairness, respect, and belonging, allowing team members to express themselves authentically and contribute meaningfully to the collective success of the organization. The company also prioritizes equal employment opportunities and adheres strictly to laws that protect workers from discrimination based on race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics.

The role of a Concessions Cashier at Sodexo, based specifically at the Shedd Aquarium location, offers a dynamic and engaging part-time opportunity with an hourly pay rate of $18.00. This position involves supporting high-volume, event-driven concession operations by efficiently managing transaction processes in a guest-focused manner. The Concessions Cashier position is unique in that it operates within fast-paced, event environments such as permanent concession stands, mobile carts, kiosks, or autonomous retail setups. The cashier is responsible for handling cash and electronic payment devices securely, assisting with inventory management tasks like stocking and product rotation, and ensuring that concession areas remain clean and organized. This position requires adaptability to fluctuating demand levels and the ability to maintain speed and accuracy under pressure, especially during peak event times. The role also demands physical activity, including frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.

Working as a Concessions Cashier at Sodexo provides a valuable experience for individuals interested in customer service and event-based operations. Employees are expected to demonstrate reliability in attending scheduled shifts and to uphold Sodexo’s standards for safety, compliance, and guest satisfaction. The concession environments vary widely and may include traditional or innovative service models, requiring cashiers to be versatile and attentive. Sodexo supports its employees by offering a flexible work schedule, opportunities for professional development, and comprehensive benefits packages tailored to support the health and well-being of its workforce. These benefits often include paid time off, medical and dental insurance, tuition reimbursement, retirement savings plans, and discounts, among others. Sodexo’s commitment to creating a positive workplace culture and providing competitive compensation makes the Concessions Cashier position an attractive opportunity for motivated individuals who thrive in lively, customer-oriented settings.
