Job Description
Emerson College is a renowned institution dedicated to arts and communication, located in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. Known for its vibrant campus life and commitment to experiential learning, Emerson College offers a dynamic environment where students and staff collaborate to create and experience premier cultural and educational events. The college's Office of the Arts plays a vital role in enriching the campus community by organizing events held primarily at the historic Cutler Majestic Theatre and the Paramount Center, two iconic venues that serve as hubs for artistic performances and gatherings throughout the year.
As a Concessions Bartender at Emerson College, you become an integral member of the Office of the Arts’ Guest Experience team. This role is not only about serving food and beverages; it is about enhancing the overall event experience for guests by delivering exceptional customer service within a lively, fast-paced theater environment. Scheduled shifts offer flexibility, with opportunities to work at both the Cutler Majestic Theatre and Paramount Center. This position demands a professional, friendly presence, ensuring guests feel welcomed and well-served whether they are purchasing a snack, ordering a beverage, or enjoying a reception.
The Concessions Bartender must be TIPS Certified, enabling the responsible service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Beyond transactional duties, the role includes the management of a point-of-sale (POS) system to process diverse payment methods swiftly and accurately. Maintaining the cleanliness and orderly setup of the concessions booth before, during, and after events is essential to preserving a welcoming environment. The Bartender also helps set the tone for safety by verifying guest age during alcohol sales and monitoring patron behavior to uphold venue policies.
This position reports directly to the Guest Experience Manager, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere where emphasis is placed on reliability, efficiency, and superior service delivery. The hourly wage for this role ranges from $15.25 to $17.15, reflecting the skills and dedication brought to the position. Scheduled weekly hours amount to 15, presenting an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking part-time employment, particularly those passionate about arts, customer service, and event-driven work.
With a focus on continuous growth and community engagement, Emerson College offers more than just a job—it offers a chance to be part of a prestigious cultural institution. Employees working 20 or more hours per week gain access to a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid time off, and retirement benefits through a 403(b) plan with a generous employer match. This role, even at part-time commitment, provides pathways for skill development, networking, and meaningful contributions to the arts community at Emerson College and beyond. Candidates who thrive in team environments, demonstrate a commitment to excellent service, and enjoy engaging with diverse audiences will find this position rewarding and professionally fulfilling.
