The role of Computer Software Specialist 3 at MLGW is a critical position that reports to the supervisor and requires the application of advanced business and information technology system practices and project management methodologies. This role involves evaluating information requirements to determine appropriate hardware and software solutions, developing project plans, and implementing or maintaining complex enterprise information systems to achieve project deliverables. The specialist will be responsible for assessing, planning, designing, developing, configuring, executing, installing, maintaining, or modifying systems encompassing web applications, client-server applications, mainframes, networks, personal computer operating systems, relational database management systems, utilities, and relevant software platforms. A key part of the job includes analyzing system performance, troubleshooting issues, recommending modifications or new system developments, and preparing detailed specifications for problem resolution.

In this role, the specialist will oversee new information system developments to optimize software capabilities and ensure alignment with long-term strategic objectives. Responsibilities include investigating system-related requests to determine feasibility and recommending acceptance, rejection, or alternative solutions. The specialist will consult with technical, professional, and managerial staff to accurately translate user requirements into cost-effective solutions. Providing expert technical guidance and assistance on software applications and system operations is essential. The position requires staying current with advances in information technology, representing MLGW in vendor communications related to hardware and software purchasing, implementation, and problem-solving, and contributing to the development and maintenance of internal computer standards and procedures. Essential technologies and platforms relevant to this position include ETL tools, data warehousing system administration and support, data modeling, data extraction, Oracle Business Intelligence Application (OBIA), Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Weblogic, Enterprise Manager, PowerBI, Oracle Data Visualization, and Oracle EBS modules such as Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Projects, Payroll, Enterprise Asset Management, and Procurement.

Candidates for this position must have demonstrated expertise and experience as the primary support person for specific systems or applications and skilled knowledge in one or more technical fields related to database management, computer hardware and software, mainframe operations, networking, programming, or systems analysis. The role also involves operating division vehicles and computer hardware/software equipment as needed.
