The role of Blending Operator at Zep Inc. is a crucial production position that involves the preparation and blending of raw materials according to precise specifications to create consistent, high-quality production blends. This position requires operating blending machinery and maintaining batch integrity throughout the manufacturing process. The blending operator plays a pivotal role in coordinating batch preparation with production line demands and scheduling, while managing tank capacities effectively. Key responsibilities include performing inspections on incoming bulk raw materials to ensure compliance with quality standards, operating specialized blending equipment, and understanding the comprehensive batching procedures including bill of materials, mixing protocols, and parts numbering systems. The operator must also be versed in the mechanics of mixing, piping, and valve systems integral to batching tanks. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of tanks, pumps, hoses, and other equipment is a vital aspect of this position, ensuring that all blends meet stringent safety and quality standards. Additionally, the role involves completing rework activities as necessary and upholding excellent housekeeping within the compounding areas, while rigorously adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and safety protocols to foster a safe working environment. Tasks also include safely loading and unloading tankers as per safety instructions, alongside performing other job-related duties as assigned. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Coordinate the preparation of batches with the needs of production lines and/or schedule, and tank capacity
  • facilitate all necessary receiving inspection procedures of bulk raw materials
  • operate blending equipment systems
  • understand and initiate basic batching procedures including reading bills of materials, mixing procedures, and understanding parts numbering system
  • understand mixing, piping, and valve systems for batching tanks
  • clean and sanitize tanks, pumps, hoses, and equipment
  • complete blend as required
  • complete rework activity as needed
  • maintain appropriate housekeeping of compounding area
  • comprehend and utilize proper PPE equipment and follow safety protocols
  • work with other personnel as needed (quality, production assistant, scheduler, etc.)
  • load/unload tankers to instruction for safety
  • perform other duties and tasks as assigned
