Job Description
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., is a prominent and innovative defense technology company specializing in a broad range of advanced defense systems which include unmanned systems, satellite communications, cyber security and warfare, microwave electronics, missile defense, training, and combat systems. Kratos primarily serves the U.S. federal government, foreign governments, commercial enterprises, and state and local agencies. Known for its commitment to affordability, Kratos leverages cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to reduce costs, streamline schedules, and minimize risks, ensuring timely delivery of cost-effective solutions to the defense market. The company prides itself on pioneering innovative defense technologies that enhance national security and maintain the safety and superiority of military forces worldwide.
Within Kratos, the Unmanned Aerial Systems (KUAS) division excels in the design, development, delivery, integration, and support of high-performance and affordable jet-powered Unmanned Aerial Systems, such as targets and tactical UAVs. KUAS has built an impressive reputation as a mid-tier defense contractor recognized for agility and innovation in producing advanced aircraft fully tailored for the needs of the U.S. military and global allies. The division’s focus is on providing superior capabilities without sacrificing cost efficiency or quality, helping customers meet evolving defense challenges with state-of-the-art systems.
The role of Composite Assembler at KUAS offers a vital opportunity to contribute directly to the manufacturing and assembly of critical components for unmanned aerial vehicles and other defense applications. Composite Assemblers are responsible for trimming, grinding, drilling, and sanding composite parts with strict attention to detail and adherence to specifications. Additionally, operators mix and apply adhesives correctly to bond parts together, ensuring structural integrity and durability. The position requires familiarity with a variety of hand tools, pneumatic equipment, ovens, and safety protocols focused on Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention and quality control standards.
Composite Assembler roles range from entry-level workers who work under close supervision to highly skilled assemblers who train others and engage in prototype fabrication. The position involves interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing orders, supporting quality management system procedures, and maintaining clean and organized workspaces according to 5S standards. Workers must also comply with safety regulations, handle composite materials and hazardous substances properly, and participate in ongoing efforts to achieve zero-defect manufacturing and a right-the-first-time philosophy.
Kratos seeks motivated individuals who excel in a team environment valuing innovation, collaboration, and professional growth. The company encourages continuous improvement and offers opportunities for career advancement within its technical production workforce. Composite Assemblers play a key role in America’s defense capabilities by manufacturing components that meet stringent industry standards and customer expectations, making this job both challenging and rewarding. Through a commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency, employees at KUAS help shape the future of unmanned technology in the defense sector, contributing to national security and technological advancements worldwide.
