The Complex Event Manager role at Highgate is pivotal in ensuring the seamless execution of group business transitioned from the sales department. This position involves overseeing all aspects of assigned events from coordination and supervision through to closure and financial reconciliation, all while maintaining profitable operations and delivering exceptional service quality. The Complex Event Manager plays a key role in achieving the hotel's banquet and catering budget targets by actively marketing innovative ideas, monitoring revenue and payroll budgets, and reducing employee turnover through effective management practices. This role demands adherence to high standards of productivity and quality, as well as active collaboration with clients and internal departments to guarantee successful meetings and events that foster repeat business. The manager serves as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring a warm and professional communication style, managing event logistics, overseeing pricing and menu proposals, and responding promptly to guest concerns. Ongoing participation in training, meetings, and operational oversight, including M.O.D. coverage, is essential for maintaining Highgate's service excellence and operational standards. The position demands flexibility for working long hours, weekends, and holidays as needed to ensure the successful delivery of all events. Job Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or as a meeting planner
  • Proficient in Windows, spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
  • Familiarity with health department rules and Nevada liquor laws
  • Experience with Marriott Consolidated Inventory System CI is a plus
  • Flexible to work long hours, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to perform light physical work involving lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally

Job Qualifications

  • 2 - 5 years of progressive experience in hotel or meeting planning
  • Proficient in Windows and company-approved spreadsheets and word processing
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques
  • Understanding of health department and Nevada liquor laws
  • Experience with Marriott Consolidated Inventory System CI is a plus
