The Complex Business Transient (BT) Sales Manager role at Highgate Hotels is a critical position focused on building strong relationships and managing a portfolio of accounts in specific market segments. This role demands a deep familiarity with Global Distribution Systems (GDS), Psuedo-City Codes (PCC), and detailed reporting mechanisms. The BT Sales Manager is tasked with actively soliciting new business, maintaining ongoing engagement with current clients, and driving revenue through strategic account management. In addition to meeting or exceeding sales goals, the role involves coordination with various hotel departments including Food and Beverage, Guest Services, and Reservations to ensure an integrated approach to guest satisfaction and sales success.

Responsibilities include attendance at daily Highgate Hotel Business Review meetings, adhering to company sales policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operating within budget limits for the sales department. The BT Sales Manager plays a crucial role in monitoring and analyzing account production and market trends while directly contributing to the growth and development of new and existing business accounts. This includes inviting clients for property tours, entertainment, and other events to strengthen relationships.

The role requires a hands-on approach to managing sales activities through the hotel’s computerized sales management system, inclusive of booking business, generating reports, and blocking space. The BT Sales Manager also collaborates closely with the brand’s Global Sales Office and actively pursues networking opportunities through community involvement and professional associations. A readiness to travel and engagement in hosting or entertaining clients are essential components of this position.

Job Requirements

  • Perform other duties as requested by management
  • Long hours sometimes required
  • Able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull objects

Job Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of progressive hotel sales experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have knowledge and ability to analyze reports
  • Experience with Lighthouse, Amadeus preferred
  • Marriott MarRFP and MINT experience preferred
  • Marriott Consolidated Inventory System CI experience a plus

Job Duties

  • Attend and be prepared for daily Highgate Hotel Business Review meeting
  • Develop a full working knowledge of hotel operations including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
  • Develop complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs and ensure adherence by sales team
  • Meet or exceed set sales goals
  • Operate within established sales expense budget
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Initiate and follow up on leads
  • Maintain an active sales solicitation program
  • Monitor production of top accounts and evaluate market trends
  • Connect and maintain local negotiated accounts and develop new accounts
  • Regularly contact existing accounts based on tracing frequencies
  • Invite clients for entertainment, lunches, tours and property visits
  • Assist in implementing special promotions
  • Prepare required reports timely
  • Conduct professional property inspections with clients
  • Use computerized sales management systems to manage business
  • Work closely with brand Global Sales Office
  • Develop networking through community and professional activities
  • Entertain clients
  • Travel as required
