The role available at Ole is for a Route Sales Driver, an essential position responsible for the timely and safe delivery of the company’s products – specifically tortillas – to grocery stores along a structured route. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires a dependable individual with a strong work ethic and excellent driving skills. As a Route Sales Driver, you will be instrumental in not only ensuring that products reach grocery stores punctually but also in maintaining the integrity of the product through careful handling. Your work will help Ole maintain strong relationships with supermarkets and retailers, ensuring the availability of the company’s fresh products to consumers.
In this position, you will be tasked with managing multiple responsibilities including transporting products and materials, performing daily vehicle inspections, handling loading and unloading of freight, and maintaining accurate travel logs. The ideal candidate will have experience with handheld devices and printers for creating invoices and credits, as well as knowledge of Direct Store Delivery (DSD) systems for grocery chains and independent stores. Merchandising skills are also valued, as you may be required to assist with store displays to help promote Ole’s products.
Success in this role demands a high level of organization, punctuality, and communication skills. You will need to ensure all delivery details such as addresses and routes are accurate before managing pick-ups and drop-offs. Problem-solving abilities will be important to adjust travel routes proactively in response to traffic conditions or road works. Additionally, a responsible driver who keeps the company vehicle clean and well-maintained will contribute to the overall efficiency and positive representation of the company.
This is not a remote or hybrid position; candidates must be comfortable with the physical and logistical demands of an active driving role. Ole expects the Route Sales Driver to uphold safety and quality standards at all times, effectively communicate with management, and report any incidents or vehicle issues promptly. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
- Must be 23 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Sound knowledge of road safety regulations
- Working knowledge of local roads and routes
- The ability to utilize maps GPS systems and car manuals
- Effective communication skills
- Bilingual English Spanish is a plus
- Punctual and reliable
Job Qualifications
- Handheld and printer experience to create invoices and credits
- Knowledge of Direct Store Delivery to grocery stores including chains and independents
- Ability to load from warehouse and unload delivery vehicle to accounts
- Merchandising skills
- Effective communication skills
Job Duties
- Safely transporting company product tortillas and materials cardboard displays to and from specified locations in a timely manner
- Assisting with the loading and offloading of product and materials
- Adjusting travel routes to avoid traffic congestion or road construction
- Promptly informing the company of any tickets issued against the company vehicle during work hours
- Ensuring that the company vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking to avoid towing
- Keeping the company vehicle clean and properly maintained by performing regular washing cleaning and vehicle maintenance
- Providing accurate time records of the company vehicle’s coming and goings
- Reporting any accidents injuries and vehicle damage to management
