Job Description
Pyxis is a dedicated community organization focused on supporting young people as they grow, thrive, and achieve their goals. The company is passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of youth by providing mentorship, guidance, and support through individualized treatment plans. Pyxis operates in the social services sector with a clear mission to foster confidence and independence among young individuals, facilitating their positive development in a nurturing environment. The organization emphasizes hands-on, purpose-driven roles that are rewarding for those who participate and those they serve. With a culture deeply committed to fostering healthy relationships and promoting positive behavioral changes, Pyxis prioritizes the holistic success of each participant in their programs.
The role of Community Support Worker at Pyxis is part-time and highly impactful. This position is perfect for motivated individuals who want to be directly involved in the lives of youth. The primary responsibility is to work closely with assigned individuals or small groups in community-based settings, helping them to achieve the goals outlined in their personalized treatment plans. Community Support Workers serve as role models and mentors, guiding young participants through planned activities that encourage motivation and success. The job is not desk-bound; rather, it requires active engagement through dynamic, hands-on support. Additionally, workers maintain communication with program managers, participant families, and referring agencies to ensure coordinated care.
This position requires a commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment, actively assisting youth in managing challenging behaviors, and ensuring their safe transportation to and from community sites. Furthermore, accurate and timely completion of clinical documentation and attendance records is essential. The Community Support Worker role also involves ongoing professional development including clinical supervision and trainings such as Safe Crisis Management. A clean driving record, valid driver’s license, and proper auto insurance are mandatory due to the transportation responsibilities inherent to this role.
Pyxis offers a competitive pay range of $16.00 to $18.00 per hour and provides several employee benefits including flexible schedules, mileage reimbursement, paid training, employee assistance programs, and referral bonuses. This job is ideal for individuals who value integrity, empathy, and the desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people. Candidates with previous experience in human services or social work, especially those familiar with behavioral or mental health challenges, are preferred but not mandatory. This position demands enthusiasm, responsibility in administrative duties, and a passion for mentoring youth in meaningful ways, all within a supportive community-focused environment starting immediately in person with night shift availability.
